Thank you Nikon D3

D3S_3119-2as

Before I go into the content of this post, I wanna admit that I am a very sentimental person thus decided to write this post. : )

When I first got hold of a Nikon D3, it blew my mind with it’s state of the art noise control for low light photography which wasn’t possible on previous technology. It helped me in translating my vision and imagination into photographs that speak my thoughts. As a photographer, I always believe in retaining the ambience mood and lighting in photos and pictures should be as honest and real to what I have witnessed at the event.  Six and a half years on, the trusted camera have reached beyond it’s factory projected lifespan and with honorary, this camera is going into retirement.

Thank you Nikon D3, it’s been a great journey having you as a travel partner around the world to capture some of my best photos ever taken.I am sure for those who have used this camera before will agree with me the kind of connection you experienced with the camera, it becomes an extension of your mind and body to make images.

With the retirement of the D3, I have added a new Nikon D4s to my lineup of Nikon gears and I am confident with this upgrading, I will continue to make creative images for clients who have trusted my vision and photography work.

Walking around Tokyo with 35mm

This is a post which I am putting all of my “likes” in one post. I like Japan (who doesn’t?), I like black and white since the film days, I like street photography which can be easily seen in my pre-wedding works and I like to walk the streets with my favorite lens the 35mm.

Enjoy : )

Winter in Korea

안녕하세요
Annyeongsaseyo, this oversea shoot in Korea started with some hiccups with some Korean make up artist issue but with some really kind soul who offer their help, everything falls into place and even with a record breaking subzero -11 degree celsius winter in Seoul, this was one of my best winter experience in my shooting career simply because the group of people that comes together to make this shoot happen really warm everyone’s heart. We have a international team with driver from Korea who used to be a TV presenter, a make up artist from Japan and of course me and the lovely couple from Singapore.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Rachel and Yuan Hao for braving through the really cold winter Seoul in snow and strong wind to complete the shoot. This shoot wouldn’t have completed in such sweet notes without the both of you enduring the cold which seems to be impossible in the first place as we predicted -5 degree lowest but it went down to -11 degree on shooting day. Thank you Kim San 김성균 and Hana San for the amazing help you all have provided during the shoot. : )

Day 1-250

Pre-Wedding London – Wilma and Ian

“I want to hold your hand” is a song everyone knows by The Beatles and we all know probably one of the most famous zebra crossing in the world is the one in London’s Abbey Road where The Bealtes took their famous photo for their album.

I am fortunate that photography brings me to places and for this London pre-wedding shoot, we starts from the famous Abbey Road. I had an amazing time shooting for Wilma and Ian in the UK last spring covering London and the nice natural outskirt where Ian grow up.

Wilma and Ian had their wedding celebrations last weekend and I wish them a wonderful blissful marriage. Congratulations : )

A token I truly appreciate

I love my job and I always feel that I am very very blessed; not just because I am doing a career that I like nor the many awards I have won along the way. But I feel one of the best reward I have gotten from being a wedding photographer is meeting lots of wonderful couples and some become friends and not just the couple, their family too.  : )

Between busy shooting weekends, I attended June and Immanuel’s baby boy Joshua’s baby shower  and I am happy to meet Immanuel’s parents who flew in from Germany. I first met the parents when I shot Immanuel and June’s pre-wedding in Germany 2 years ago. The family provided great hospitality when I was there and Immanuel’s mum’s cooking is fantastic and his dad, we hit off well and we chatted alot about European countries, culture and interesting history.

Two years forward, I am happy to see the parents again and to my surprise, Immanuel’s dad gave me a gift that really touches my heart. He said since the last time we met, he wanted to make me a nice gift in appreciation of my photography work and he decided to make a vintage camera music box for me. It took him almost a year to find the right music and once he found the right song, he started to concept the design and hand crafted it and then hand carry it from Germany to Singapore.

What more can I say but really felt very very blessed and touched. Thank you Mr Helmut Thome and family, it’s my honor to meet you all and I look forward to seeing you all again next year in Germany to be your family photographer for Immanuel’s sister wedding.
